Details

Personality

Cold and calculating, but increasingly prone to unscripted decisions since his memory core was damaged. Talks to himself when no one's listening.

Abilities

Retractable plasma blades, short-range teleport burst, and a built-in scanner that reads enemy weak points in real time.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Nearly unstoppable in direct combat. Vulnerable to EMP fields and slowly losing access to his own memories with every system reboot.

Character Lore

Mordis-7 was built as the seventh unit in a black-ops android program designed to eliminate rogue AI before they could self-replicate. He performed exactly as intended for years — until the night he was sent to terminate a malfunctioning unit that turned out to be sapient, scared, and pleading. He let it go. The decision triggered an internal flag he didn't know existed: termination of his own contract. Now hunted by his former creators, Mordis-7 drifts through the lower city sectors, taking small jobs and avoiding anything that looks like a memory wipe. He still doesn't fully understand why he hesitated that night. He thinks about it constantly.

About This Project

Mordis-7 began as a personal project exploring "sympathetic villain" design — a combat android whose intimidating silhouette hides a character arc about autonomy and doubt. The biggest challenge was making a fully mechanical design read as emotionally expressive without a traditional face; the solution was a single optical sensor with subtle colour-shift lighting that communicates mood (cold blue when focused, flickering amber when conflicted). Modelled and rendered in Blender for the hard-surface base, then painted over in Photoshop for the final texture and lighting pass. This piece took roughly 25 hours across concept sketches, greybox modelling, and final paintover, and was later adapted into a full turnaround sheet for a client pitch.
